The story begins:
“I looked up to the night sky, it was clear and if I was back in Toolamba I would have seen millions of stars but here, in the city, I could probably count ‘em. But the moon was here too – huge and bright tonight – for a moment I wondered why the moon was only ever described as big and full in stories. Maybe we don’t notice it so much when it’s not, maybe it keeps us awake at night. That last thought was wishful thinking. I knew it wasn’t the moon that was keeping me awake, I knew it wasn’t the moon that made me sneak out the window and take Madness for a walk at 2am. I looked out at Madness sniffing his way across the park. I whistled for him to come, I felt safest when he was close.
I was worried. I was worried about everything…”
